Welcome to Foulrice Charollais Sheep. In pursuit of genetic improvement within our flock and in conjunction with good breeding practice we have recorded with MLC/Signet since 1984 and backfat scanned since its inception in 1987.
Our pedigree Charollais flock having being established in 1982 has expanded from modest beginnings to its present level of some 550+ ewes aiming to produce quality pedigree and commercial rams.
Time as they say waits for no man, and it is with a certain sense of relief that 2007 and 2008 with FMD and Bluetongue are behind us and 2009 is progressing on a far more positive note. With spring lambs topping £100 and cull ewes the same, prices are becoming more realistic and element of confidence is returning.
Our 2008 ram purchases of Park Gate Insignia ZCA8021 and Ballynoe House Isaac YCR8029 have established themselves in our stock ram team, both with lambs produced and show ring success. Insignia won the shearling ram class at the 2009 Lincoln Show and was reserve Male Champion, whilst one of his sons stood second in a class of 48 entries at the 2009 Royal Welsh Show. He also sired the champion butchers lambs at our local Ryedale Show, beating all the Beltex and Texel entries! Isaac similarly stood second in a strong shearling ram class at the Royal Welsh Show, won his class at Ryedale Show and was part of the winning group at both the Great Yorkshire Show and Ryedale Show.
Our on farm ram sale continues to be successful as is the complimentary BBQ. It enables us to present our sheep without trimming to show off their good skins and natural fleshing.
