2017 Complete

Having had a dry early start to the year, as these things happen it turned wet as silage time approached. So 10-12 days later than it should have been grass bulked up a bit more with more stalk & fibre to it - but it filled the clamp with 100 big bales as well. We rely on contractors to do this & they are always very obliging the grass into the clamp going through a Forage wagon. The chop length is greater than a precision chop machine but it does not seem to be an issue feeding it to the sheep. Anything not suitable for the sheep goes to our herd of Pedigree Dexter cattle which with followers usually numbers between 40 &50. The beef from the herd is either sold as freezer packs or to Swaledale Foods at Skipton who are supplying top class restaurants in London.

Funny looking Charollais you say - but having mentioned the Dexters I thought I would introduce you to our other breed of sheep which son Stephen describes as Dad`s pets  - these are our small flock of pedigree Teeswaters numbering 20 ewes which we have run for quite some years now. The Teeswater is the sire of the masham halfbred ewe - an extremely hard wearing commercial ewe - quite prolific & good milkers producing lambs with excellent loins. The Masham incidentally crosses very well with the Charollais for butchers lamb production. One other item worthy of mention is that the Teeswater has what is known as a lustre wool which is highly sought after for spinning.

Harvest started well & just when we thought it was all going to be quickly wrapped up it rained again, so the last of our straw wasn`t baled until the end of October. Maybe it generates patience!

Our 2016 success at Skipton female sale was repeated this year when Ben James of Tenbury Wells Worcs. tapped out the 1st prize ewe lamb as Champion & the 1st prize shearling ewe ( a Foulrice Majestic daughter ) as reserve.He subsequently backed his judgement by taking the champion at 700gns & also the 2nd prize ewe lamb (a Foulrice Osprey daughter) at 800gns.He also bought the reserve champion by commission for 1200gns which was the top price for the sale.

Rounding the year off we were once again honoured to be awarded in the flock competition,Champion Flock of the Northern Region for the second year running.

Into 2017

Having thought that 2016 was complete one last item came to my attention & that was that at the Early NSA Ram Sale at Builth Wells  we actually sold the top priced ram at the sale for 1250gns

 

Another Mount Aloe son out of a Langstone K2 daughter  full of flesh with a big gigot  -  buyers were R Swift & Sons of Church Eaton in Staffordshire. If you think the ram is sulking that's because he was not halter trained & didn`t appreciate the opportunity of a photo call.

Fast forward to Builth Early Ram Sale 2017 & there we were again this time winning the pen prize for the large pens of shearling rams with our 20 rams

Always a good venue for good commercial rams. A Foulrice Osprey grandson won 1st prize performance recorded shearling ram, was reserve Champion & sold for the joint top price of 980gns to one of our regular customers  - Reg Brookes & Son of Worcs. The tags round some of the rams necks are easy identifiers for rams in the top 10% (gold) & those in the top 25% (silver)

Mount Aloe did it again at the Skipton Charollais Sale  - producing the 1st prize ram lamb which was subsequently made Champion under the watchful eye of judge Mr Harold Keast

New Years Day 1st January 2018

Time for some catch up as much has happened since my last post of early September 2016.

Our September ram sale at Skipton with CCM Auctions & auctioneer Ted Ogden was successful, as you see from the picture below, we took Champion with a twin born shearling ram by our prolific stock ram Dalby Mount Aloe.This sold to Mr Jim Kelly of Market Harborough Leics.

Incidentally we sold another son of Dalby Mount Aloe 14DG04690 in 2015 to the National RamCompare project where he has been used in the commercial flock of Duncan Nelless of Thistleyhaugh Northumberland very successfully; & in the preliminary results announced in November 2017 this ram is the highest placed natural service Charollais ram for overall carcase merit.He also produced one of the largest progeny groups for the trial. This follows on from his sire who as a shearling with natural service comfortably served 100 ewes in a three week cycle.

Our top priced Ram lamb Foulrice Rachamin 16DG06107 sold earlier this year to J & J Corbett, in the September 2017 analysis with Signet Breeding is the third highest rated stock ram currently in the Charollais breed with an index of 459 showing exceptional growth & muscle together with a slightly positive fat rating - best for finishing lambs off grass.

 

Next up came the autumn in-lamb female sale at Skipton & under the eye of judge Dave Roberts of Kenley in Shropshire, Foulrice gimmers took both Champion & reserve. The Champion was  purchased by the judge for 800gns carrying twins to Foulrice Osprey.She was surpassed in the sale ring by the reserve Champion which was bought by Edward McCann of Askham-in-Furness, Cumbria for 1100gns, this time carrying twins to our July purchase Bronwydd Ready To Rumble.

 

Our successful year was rounded off by not only being awarded Champion flock for Yorkshire & Cleveland area, but also becoming Champion Flock for the Northern Region of the BCSS

Worcs Premier Sale & forward to the Great Yorkshire Show

Right to the last ram lamb of the sale there were a good number of buyers in the ring, so when Foulrice Roderick  came into the ring he quickly found a new home at 1350gns with Gerald Burroughs for his Sheldon flock

We not only had a successful sale but we also came away with two purchases of our choice. The first was Stuart Dunkley`s one ram lamb entered ` Hyde Radio5Live ` a very good skinned well muscled lamb standing with plenty of width behind & very good on his feet & legs.
The second from Emyr Hughes pen late in the sale ` Bronwydd Ready to Rumble ` incorporating Skelton Whin & Mortimer breeding.This will make a bigger ram than the Hyde lamb but most importantly has good shape & fleshing, & a bit more hair cover on his face. Both lambs have been used on a good number of ewes so its a matter of waiting with anticipation. We have also shorn both lambs bare & still are pleased with the results - so watch this space !

Next up came the Great Yorkshire Show & having won male champion for two years running with Rhaeadr Nock, we were delighted to continue this for the third year by winning the award under the keen eye of judge Johnie Aiken with our home bred stock ram Foulrice Osprey 14DG04650 pictured below being shown by son Stephen .Osprey will be one of the best muscled & correct rams that we have bred & most importantly he is passing it on to his progeny.

Worcester Premier Sale

Worcester Premier sale arrived with haste as it always seems to do, though we were probably a bit better prepared than sometimes, with the weather being a little kinder.Having a number of good ram lambs we ventured to enter two runs of five ram lambs which meant that the second run would be at the end of the sale & as it turned out they were the last ram lambs sold.

However even though we did not catch the judges eye there was plenty of buyer interest both on the Friday at judging & on the sale day itself.

A strong hard fleshed shearling son of Rhaeadr Nock, with an index of 338, set the pace at 1650gns selling to Mr Griffiths of Llanbydder.He was followed by our last shearling ram a March born son of Foulrice Osprey ( Charollais male champion Gt. Yorks Show 2016 ) with exceptional muscling,& an index of 362 selling at 2000gns to Brian Cornish of Devon.

This set the stage for our ram lambs the first pictured above, Lot 92, Foulrice Raphael, a very smart  correct son of Foulrice Osprey selling at 1400gns to Jennifer & Geof Curtis for their Elmwick flock 

Lot 93 followed a stylish upstanding well fleshed Dalby Mt. Aloe triplet son - Foulrice Rachamin - quickly going to 4800gns to Jonathan & Janet Corbett for the Wedderburn flock.
The next lot another triplet Mt. Aloe son was snapped up by Jamie Wild for his Redhill flock.

Fast forward to the end of the sale & Lot 225 Foulrice Regis a very tight skinned well balanced son of Foulrice Osprey came into the ring & after strong competition was knocked down to Charles Sercombe for his Dalby flock

Late Spring 2016/2

Our visit to Otley Show was highly successful, as taking five sheep we won four first prizes & one second. Our show ewe Foulrice Naomi who was Champion Charollais at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2014 took a year out last year as she produced a triplet. This year ( as sheep do ) she  didn`t lamb until March, nevertheless thinking this could be her last year to be shown we took her to Otley where she not only won the ewe class but was awarded Reserve Champion.

Today Stephen has shorn the December born ewe lambs retained as flock replacements.We have done this at around this time of year ( dependant on the weather ) for the last five years, not that it increases their mature size, but as they are just running at grass with no supplementary feed, they actually graze & grow better in their first summer.We also tup most of them so it is important that they are as well grown as possible before pregnancy.

Our pastures are predominantly 4/5 year leys with priority on grazing so we are never the first to make silage. However weather & contractor permitting we shall gather it in about a weeks time, filling the clamp first with any surplus going into big bales. Will keep you posted on progress. 





Late Spring 2016

A late spring in more ways than one - after it seemed like it would never stop raining - eventually lambing was finished, grass started to grow & suddenly everything was turned out, with the cattle bitterly complaining that they were the last to go; though only when they had finished off some two year old silage. Some of our Dexter beef is now making it`s way, via Swaledale Foods of Skipton, into high class restaurants in London.
Not usually venturing into the show ring until the Great Yorkshire Show we were persuaded to take a team to Otley Show in it`s 207th year on Saturday 21st May.
                                                                        

 

FOULRICE OSPREY 14DG04650 Champion Charollais Otley 2016

Having shown a photo of Osprey bare clipped in my last post several weeks ago he came out with no trimming & took champion.

Our December born ram & ewe lambs retained for breeding include some excellent progeny of this ram. In fact our entry for Worcester Premier sale this year includes four sons - one shearling ram (which we have used ) & three ram lambs. All rams entered for the Worcs. sale this year have to be R1 scrapie genotype, & having sampled 10 shearling rams & 30 ram lambs - all of them came back as R1 genotype; which not only has given us plenty of choice but we reckon that our flock must now be upwards of 100% R1 genotype.

Osprey`s shearling son for Worcs.is following in his sire`s footsteps with an index of 362, a loin muscle top 1% , & gigot muscularity of top 1% which he in turn is passing on to his offspring.This ram who we have named Foulrice Prometheus is only for sale as his sire is breeding so well.    

    

 

Spring 2016

14DG04650 - Foulrice Osprey, shorn late March - no need of wool to add shape to this boy.He has great width of loin with fleshing through from rump to shoulder. He stands well with plenty of width behind & not too heavy in front.We have some good December born lambs on the ground by him & his dam has yet again produced a full brother of similar characteristics.
December lambing was mad as usual with everything pretty well lambing in ten days, which is great for getting ewes & lambs into batches & preventing disease build up. A larger number of triplets & quads than usual meant that we had a bigger squad of pet lambs, but the machine under Valerie`s supervision worked admirably & having weaned them at 4 to 5 weeks of age the majority are on a par with those reared on the ewes. Silage has been better this winter so the ewes have milked better & not lost too much body condition, which is a help as our ewe culling is usually carried out at this time of year when the lambs are weaned & the trade is usually quite buoyant.
Winter has been somewhat wet & relatively mild keeping the grass unusually green, that is until March when it has come colder, the grass has gone backwards & just when we thought it was drying up nicely - guess what - it rained again ! Still I must admit there are many in other parts who have had far more water than us.
Last July at A.I. time with a few years having gone by we went back into the pot & inseminated a good batch of ewes with semen from Westonvale Jubilee XBB9016, so we are watching the progeny with interest to see how they measure up against our current team of stock rams.
Eight week weighing has come & gone with reams of paper arriving from Signet - mostly this is an indicator of how well the ewes have milked - the real telling time will be at 21 weeks when we weigh all the lambs again & take an ultrasound muscle depth measurement on the loin which is a better indicator of their own genetic potential. With all this taking place we are at the same time endeavouring to take out as spring butchers lambs any that will not make the grade as either rams or ewe replacements, so as to take advantage of the Easter trade.
We are making good progress with our March lambing of 130 ewe hogs - only about 20 left - & are really pleased with the offspring of the ram lambs that I mentioned in a previous post.

Early Autumn 2015

1st Prize Shearling Gimmer & sale Champion at Skipton Female Sale 10th October 2015.
14DG04338 one of the show team, sired by Langstone K2 out of an H13 granddaughter, sale topper at 1000gns and sold in lamb to Lowerye Neils Favourite.

This was a good sound sale with buyers for all the stock forward at good prices to round off the season.

Our March born lambs usually provide most of the ram lambs to grow on and sell as shearlings.

With the good grass season the lambs had done quite well so after ultra sound scanning at the end of August we opted to take eleven ram lambs to the mobile CT scanner while it was sited with George Fell  at Thorganby near York scanning Meatlincs.

The results were pleasing across the board as we took lambs by five different rams including two by Cwm Dunrig Nelson purchased from Duncan Davies at Builth II 2014 (a really tight skinned ram with Inglis breeding & shape in him)

Out of these we then selected three to run with some ewe lambs in addition to one early born tup. They are as follows:

All good correct tight skinned ram lambs with some shape and style.

So we will look forward with anticipation to a next generation of breeding.

Summer 2015 continued

In spite of show successes there was much trepidation in the marketplace as butcher`s lambs had been a much poorer price than the previous year. So with a mixture of hope and misgivings we set off to our first major commercial ram sale of the season - the NSA Borders & Wales Ram Sale at Builth Wells - along with daughter Deborah and a consignment of shearling rams from both our flocks. Much to everyone`s surprise there was strong demand for all breeds particularly Charollais with good numbers of buyers present.

In the pen classes Foulrice won 1st prize for large pen of shearling rams, and Galtres won second.


Our pen leader 14DG04519 won the open sh. ram class & also the John Davies cup for the show champion.This son of Foulrice Lightening subsequently sold for 1080gns to Innovis Breeding Ltd. 

The second ram in 14DG04651 (twin brother to our first prize Yorkshire Show winning shearling) won the performance recorded class selling for 1120gns. But our sale topper was our third ram in 14DG04842 (a March born son of Rhaeadr Nock) selling at 1300gns to D & A Fenwick Ltd of Gainsborough Lincolnshire.

There was a distinct variation in ram sales throughout the season, but all the shearling rams found new homes with demand for Charollais remaining strong to the end of the season for ram lambs.

The summer though not that hot provided an abundant supply of grass and our silage was much better quality than the previous year with dry matter of 31.5%, D value of 75.8 & ME of 12.1, better than the second cut haylage this year but even that is feeding nicely.

The grass supply meant that we had pastures at the right stage for flushing the ewes well both for July A.I. and October natural tupping.

Summer 2015

Foulrice Charollais winning the Ripley group of three trophy at the G.Y.S. when Nock teamed up with two shearling ewes both daughters of Foulrice Lightening 14DG04500 & 14DG04549, all in all a show to be remembered

Rhaeadr Nock 13XXK00879 - 2015 Great Yorkshire Show Interbreed Champion.

Having been awarded the Charollais championship on the Tuesday, on the following day Nock progressed to win the Grafton Terminal Sire trophy and followed it up by being awarded Supreme Sheep Champion of the show. This success he repeated at both Driffield and Ryedale shows, finishing his season in style by winning the Interbreed trophy at Kilnsey Show for the second year running.

Spring 2015

Having brought you up to date with 2014 we now move on to spring of 2015. The bulk of the silage made last summer fed as expected with feed value deficiencies having to be compensated by increased levels of concentrate feeding for the ewes to milk well. Even then it is not fully possible to compensate for forage inadequacies with increased concentrates. We saved the better quality second cut silage to feed to the ewe lambs which were lambing to avoid prolapse problems.

We have in fact fed home mixed rations for thirty years now as you have much more quality control. With the pedigree flock numbers stable for a number of years at 500 there is no room for extravagant feed as our flock is run very much on a commercial basis, for even though we sell a number of rams each year for pedigree use, the bulk of our rams produced go onto commercial farms.

The Foulrice flock has been performance recorded since its formation 34 years ago and has seen steady progress till in 2015 our average index has passed the 300 mark.
 Our aim has always been threefold :-
 1/ To have a flock of consistent type which maintains the easy lambing attributes of the Charollais.
 2/ To produce rams with good skins, good shape & hardy type - pleasing to our customers.
 3/ To see continual improvement in growth & carcase traits through recording.

Early in the year the Signet RamCompare Project was announced. It is a two year pilot project designed to trial strategies for capturing commercial data on slaughter lambs in the UK sheep industry. It will be similar to central progeny tests that are taking place in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.
So when the invitation was given for offers of high index Charollais shearling rams for the project we put some forward and had two accepted - both in the top 1% of the breed, and both March born on a grass based system. One sired by Lowerye Neils Favourite, and the other by Dalby Mount Aloe.

One of our best lambs in our December born batch was a Lowerye Neils Favourite son - Foulrice Pathfinder 15DG05165 who having an actual muscle depth of 37.9mm came in with a muscle EBV of 6 (the highest of the year) as part of an overall index of 414. Needless to say he was quickly sold to a private purchaser for a reasonable sum.

Before the conclusion of sales for the year, having attended Skipton Multibreed Ram Sale on Friday 3rd October a.m. and arriving home after lunch we left home and headed off to Exeter. Our youngest son Andrew was married to Katherine in the splendid setting of Exeter Cathedral on the following afternoon of Saturday 4th October

More from Summer 2014

A day to be remembered - Not only did our shearling ewe Naomi take the championship as mentioned yesterday, but our junior stock ram Rhaeadr Nock XXK 00879 (bought the previous year at Worcs. Premier sale for 4400gns from Myrfa Evans ) took the male championship & reserve overall to crown an exceptional day.

Pictured with me is eldest son Stephen & both our wives in the background.

Moving forward to our last show of the season at Kilnsey up above Skipton, at the end of August, what should happen but Naomi had scald & so was left at home.

This is one of the best one day shows in the north of England with fourteen different sheep breeds exhibited including some of the best North of England Mules seen.The show draws large crowds and competition is intense and it all takes place in the shadow of Kilnsey Cragg, a beautiful setting for any show. Crag races and harness racing are also a feature of this popular show. 



So here we are six weeks after the Great Yorkshire Show & Rhaeadr Nock takes the Interbreed Sheep Championship at Kilnsey (Here pictured with the Cragg in the background) where more often than not it is won by one of the hill breeds What an honour !

Spring / Summer 2014

Before we launch into the happenings of 2015 lets just have a quick recap of the events of 2014.
Spring lamb trade was good for those that weren`t needed as flock replacements or to sell as ram lambs; whereas cull ewes took a step back. Nevertheless going back to the maxim that we adopted when first breeding Charollais  -  If you produce a quality product it will always have a market  - we are always able to sell at the better end of the market.
Forage was again an issue and after missing our early slot of weather for silage making by two weeks due to the rain we finished up filling the clamp plus a large number of big bales, all very dry and smelling good, sadly lacking in feed value. This was helped to some extent by the fact that we made a smaller number of second cut haylage bales of first rate quality later in the season.

Having resisted an offer to sell Naomi (pictured above) in early spring of 2014 she went on to be Champion Charollais at the Great Yorkshire Show and Res. Champion Terminal Sire Breed. She then followed it up with Champion Charollais & Interbreed Champion at both Driffield & Ryedale Shows.Incidentally Naomi is a daughter of one of our other top rated stock tups Dalby Mount Aloe PE01524 & her dam a previous female champion at the Great Yorkshire Show.



Overdue Update

For those of you who have waited patiently for this site to come out of hibernation here we are 20th february 2014 & finally made it. Since my last post obviously lots has happened some good & some not so good. Our shearling ewe 11DG01238 was res.Ch. female at the Great Yorkshire Show 2012 & went on to win three further breed champions at Driffield,Ryedale & Kilnsey. We also won the Charollais Ripley trophy for group of three at the G.Y.S.
Added to this we won the Yorkshire & Cleveland area flock competition for 2012 & went on to win the North of England Regional flock competition, with our home bred stock ram Foulrice Lightening 11DG01588 (sired by Castellau Krypton as is our show gimmer) being Champion stock ram.
Our notable purchase of the year was Dalby Mount Aloe 12PE01524 at 2000gns from Charles & Helen Sercombe at Worcs Premier sale - a very correct well fleshed ram with figures to match,& contrary to some previous experience his index has risen with use, & now stands at 447, putting him as the seventh top recorded stock sire.The reason for noting this is that he is producing the progeny to match - see below.
For us the summer of 2012 was one of the wettest in recent years which washed everything out & resulted in some of the poorest silage made for years - copious quantity but abysmal quality (still had 50 bales left for this winter 2013/2014 which our cattle are very reluctantly eating). The year finished off with a good dose of SBV which took 25% of our lamb crop after a moderate scan as well.
However as they say every cloud has a silver lining with some of the evidence pictured below.

Nuria one of the best tup lambs that we have bred for some years caught the eye of Eddie Buckley & others at Worcs. Premier sale 2013 subsequently selling at 5200gns making him top priced ram lamb at the sale. In total three Dalby Mount Aloe sons averaged 3000gns - the other two selling to Arwel Owen for the Banwy flock & to Jamie Wilde for the Redhill flock. Also a strong Foulrice Lightening son sold to Messrs Meyrick for the Bould flock in the Cotswolds.

Rhaeadr Nock was the pick of Myrfa Evans pen at Worcs. Premier 2013 & this run of ram lambs came into the ring before our run so we finished up investing 4000gns in Nock before ours came into the ring, which also turned out to be the second top price of the sale. He has produced some good lambs so look out for them this season. His fleece has been removed & he continues to impress!
We also took a fancy to Neil Oughton`s ram lamb Lowerye Neil`s Favourite 13ZVY00661 for his tremendous fleshing,& though our lambs from him will be March born we feel that he will make a positive contribution to the Foulrice flock as with his fleece removed he is not dissimilar to Ash Charollais Filibuster. Look out for his progeny as well!
Our 2013 show season was reasonably successful with our now 2shear ewe 11DG01238 taking Champion & Interbreed Champion at Driffield show for the second year running & repeating this success at Ryedale show. At Kilnsey show she had to make do with res. ch. as Champion went to her half brother Foulrice Lightening 11DG01588 who went on to win res.interbreed champion.
Now we need to get busy with the camera & produce some more pictures to bring you all up to date. It`s mid February & everything is, in spite of being wet, very green I guess that there`s time for some hard weather yet !!

June 2012 Update

Time has moved on rapidly  from the start of the year.March lambing was accompanied by fine warm weather. With much talk of drought the weather changed & nature began to redress the balance.

However,regardless of the weather,sheep are looking well & grass has grown in a way that we have not seen for the last two or three years.

   One last note from 2011 is a picture above from the Skipton Female Sale.Our 1st prize shearling ewe & reserve overall Champion DG0291 a Ballynoe House Isaac daughter,whose dam was sired by Ash Charollais Filibuster.

Moving forward into this year our stock ram Langstone K2 QU0067 (pictured above) is beginning to prove himself by siring some of our top performing lambs.K2 was purchased as a lamb at Builth 2 in 2010 for 1000gns from Nick & Mimi Hart.

Foulrice Lightening 11DG01588 our prize winning home bred ram lamb (son of Castellau Krypton) was used to serve 25 ewe lambs last October & has replicated himself remarkably well his best ram lamb a twin off a ewe lamb born on 9th March weighed in last week at 44kgs.

NEW YEAR JANUARY 2012

Since I last posted a whole lambing time has come and gone, so we now have lots of lambs on the ground. The weather has been very much kinder to us than it was a year ago with only one morning when a couple of taps needed thawing out.

Today I would like to show you photos of some of our stock rams that are being successfully used at Foulrice.

At five years of age he is as correct as the day we bought him & he consistently sires some of our best shearling rams including our pen leader at Builth II 2011 sold to Ieuan & Evlin Lloyd for 2300gns.

Ballynoe House Isaac YCR 8029, purchased as a lamb from Ian Craig at Dungannon. As a shearling he stood second in a large class at the Royal Welsh Show. A very tight skinned ram, he sired the top price all breeds ram at Builth I 2010 sold for 2000gns to Paul & David Curran, plus another shearling ram at Worcs. 2011 sold to Herbie & Alan Kennedy at 2100gns. He was also sire of the first prize shearling ewe at the 2011 Skipton female sale.

Wernfawr Jim XEV 9061, purchased in 2009 at Builth I from Paul & David Curran where he was the pre-sale champion. A big powerful ram in excess of 150kgs he has not only been shown successfully finishing the 2011 season as champion stock ram in the Yorkshire area, but also sired our best ram lamb at Worcs. 2011 selling at 4200gns to Arwel Owen & Partners as well as producing the first prize ewe lamb at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Rainbow Komodo Dragon XPU 0079, purchased as a lamb at Worcs. Premier 2010 for 1400gns from Andrew & Jan Walton. A high indexed ram with excellent fleshing whose first crop of lambs produced a strong ram lamb at Worcs. 2011 selling at 1300gns to Colin Bowen for his Hendy flock.

Yorkshire Charollais Flock Competition

Latest news from Foulrice Charollais is that we have enjoyed success in the Yorkshire area flock competition as follows:-

• Large flock ewes 1st prize

• Large flock ewe lambs 1st prize

• Stock ram with progeny on the ground 1st prize  -  Wernfawr Jim, XEV 9061

• Home bred ram lamb - 1st prize - Foulrice Lightening 11DG01588 - this is our top March born ram lamb being born & reared as a twin off a ewe lamb. At 22 weeks he weighed 73kgs & scanned with a 34.7mm eye muscle, coming in with an index of 355, putting him in the top 10%. He has a certain amount of style & a really good tight skin, consequently we have used him & he has served 25 ewe lambs.

All of this culminated in us being awarded Champion Flock with which we are highly delighted.
